Aeon’s Tree, like many other artworks produced by Shelley Batcules, were produced within the context of autobiographical real world experiences and the emotions flowing through them.
Aeon’s tree was born during art therapy sessions with mental health clients.
The first stages in the production of Aeon’s Tree was to share techniques and conceptual processes for art therapy clients to show them how to release and convey emotions relative to times of adversity while maintaining a positive outlook for the future.
The process of painting Aeon’s Key served as a way to cope with the complex difficulty of the circumstances while reaching to inner spirituality and becoming one with growth and a one world consciousness. This experience, when viewed by friends and patients alike served as an example of how art can make a person know themselves, recognize their strengths and act on them.
Art’s true power is its ability to serve as the universal language which breaks the borders and boundaries of spoken language.
