Forest for the Trees

“FOREST FOR THE TREES.
” Seems timely…? So, let’s look at the origin of the concept. The most popular search in this contemporary conundrum is ironically as follows;
An expression used of someone who is too involved in the details of a problem to look at the situation as a whole: i.e.: “The congressman became so involved in the wording of his bill that he couldn't see the forest for the trees; he did not realize that the bill could never pass.”
LAND_LINE

LAND_LINES
mixed media on canvas, 36" X 36"
Look at the lines across the land, define the territories, dig down to create the drainage, draw lines in the sand,
then take a stick and spread out that line, like a broom taking the landscape back to the beginning.
Then, look up to the moon. See the lines in the light, that radiates toward the earth. Rays that represent silent communication...
a conversation to contemplate where we can go, wake-up to where we once walked, and what we want to achieve...

GRAPE_VINE

GRAPEVINE
Oil and acrylic on canvas
48"X48"
Grapevine is an abstract translation of the literal photographic landscape of a French vineyard, and the metaphoric concept of communication via "the grapevine." The linear composition, formal technique and colour palette reflect the environment and tools of the wine maker, while the attached mini canvas fruits signify the fluidity of messengers - each passing ideas down the lines of communication to form one cohesive landscape.
SOuLE Path
37" X 71"
The title of the oil painting SOuLe Path is a play on the words “sole” and “soul”. The content uses the duality of this word play to extend the double meaning of the content in this abstract portrait. SOuLe Path explores the concept that you must walk the path (leaving the footprint of the sole) to know the path (making the imprint on the soul), which life is lived through experience and the soul is built by how we make choices in life.
DEFINE SOLE
Noun: 1a: the under surface of a foot. b: the part of an item of footwear on which the sole rests and upon which the wearer treads. 2: the usually flat or flattened bottom or lower part of something or the base on which something rests.

SPINEHEAD
What is Real? Who leads You?...
A digital sketch was created as a reference to the larger oil painting with composed layers of images giving the opportunity for colour and composition experimentation prior to completing the final piece.

PSYCHIC STORM
Looking for inspiration, and finding the art of creative catharsis, then applying the act of contemplation, enhances an enjoyment to consciously chart/map "your own course" for character development.
Learning to compose a curriculum of personal choices, and apply the act of testing/trusting free-will, results in pro-active challenges, to create building blocks that form a foundation and distinct arsenal of skills, and methods of communication that define your growth, voice and viewpoint.
The picture, and perspective is then truly yours for others to see...

Psychic storm is based on my subconscious experiences and my exploration into visually documenting dreamscapes.
